Configure a USB Zebra DS3678 to connect via Serial connection (USB to Serial)

In this article, we will explain how to convert your USB Zebra Wireless DS3678 to appear as a Serial connected & not as a USB (clever hey!)

Note: This article was written for the Zebra Wireless DS3678 Handheld Scanner. Most Zebra wireless scanners are similar however there may be some differences.

Important: This should be done only after consulting the FreshTrack Support team or in consultation with your IT provider.

In this article, we will explain how to convert your USB Zebra Wireless DS3678 to appear as a Serial connected scanner and not as a USB (clever hey!)

Step : Scan the smart QR Code

Scan the QR code using your scanner. This will configure the scanner to communicate with your computer through the virtual serial port, no other software is needed to be installed.

Once the scanner has scanned the smart QR code above, it pretends to be connected to your computer via a Serial cable and not a USB cable (smart hey).

Step 2: Scan the Serial Configuration QR Code.

After scanning the first QR code, you will need to scan the standard QR code to complete the connection process. Standard RS-232 is the format in which the serial connection will communicate. The FreshTrack platform uses the RS-232 standard.

Congratulations! You have successfully connected your scanner to your computer using a serial connection.

If you encounter any issues during this process, please start a conversation with the FreshTrack support team via the FreshTrack Messenger.
