This summarizes all the hardware and devices typically used in a packing shed

For Bin Receival, Palletization, Pallet Location Scanning we can generally use 3 type of devices.

  • Android/IOS Mobile Phones

  • Short Range Rugged Scanners (standalone or with touchscreen)

  • Long Range Rugged Scanners (standalone or with touchscreen)

  • Long Range PDA

Android/IOS Mobile Phones

  • Cost effective (from 400$)

  • Has visual Feedback

  • Can't scan from forklift

  • Slow scanning

  • Requires WIFI for most feedbacks

Short Range Rugged Scanners

  • Extremely Fast scanning

  • Very durable

  • Works with no WiFi

  • Cost effective (approx 1100$)

  • No feedback, unless used with touchscreen PC (you need to walk back to the screen or have direct visual on it)

  • Can't scan from forklift

Long Range Rugged Scanners

  • Extremely Fast scanning

  • Very durable

  • Works with no WiFi

  • Work in accumulation mode, pushing data to PC when back on line

  • Can scan from forklift

  • No feedback, unless used with touchscreen PC you need to walk back to the screen or have direct visual on it)

  • Expensive (1800,00$)

Long Range PDA

  • Decent scanning speed (1 box/second)

  • Durable

  • Has visual feedback

  • Can scan from forklift

  • Very expensive: approx 4,000.00$

  • Requires WIFI for most feedbacks

  • Needs good WiFi coverage
